The reveal, full screen for the projector

Getting ready

Most of the work happens on a Tuesday afternoon.

By the night itself there’s nothing left to do but send links and watch the marks come in. That’s the point.

Some evening beforehand

Build the event once

Rounds, what gets marked in each, and out of what. Add your entrants with photographs so judges recognise who’s walked on. Then invite the panel — each gets their own link and a four-digit PIN.

As doors open

Judges sign in before the audience does

Two minutes each, while the room is empty and the network is quiet. It’s the single thing most worth doing early.

Showtime

Then it runs itself

Marks arrive as they’re tapped. Rounds close when the last judge submits. The shortlist is on screen before the host has finished thanking the sponsors.

From people who’ve run one

Everything here exists because it went wrong for somebody.

None of it is hypothetical.

A phone dies at round two

It happens. Close the round without that judge and keep going — the other marks still count and nobody waits.

Venue wifi buckles at eight o’clock

Three hundred people arrive with phones and the network gives up. Marks queue on the judge’s device and send themselves when it returns. They won’t notice.

Judges peer at each other’s sheets

They can’t here. Nobody sees a total but their own until the round closes.

Two contestants finish level

The panel votes, privately, seeing photographs but no scores. If they split, the head judge decides. Whatever settles it gets printed.

A parent asks why fourth

Show them. Every mark, every judge, every category, timestamped. The conversation becomes about the marking rather than the maths.

Your head judge is seventy-two

She taps a link, types four digits, and sees one person at a time with two big buttons. There is nothing else on the screen to get wrong.

Not just pageants

Nothing in here assumes what you’re judging.

You decide the rounds, what gets marked and out of what. A dog show and a debating final work the same way.

Plans

Priced by how much you run, not by what you get.

Every plan has the whole of EventScore in it — the scoring, the tie ballots, the audience vote, the printed breakdown, two-factor on your account. What changes is how much you can run at once.
